Katherine Scott (katherine_scott)
I am a young, driven and motivated indivdual, who has been learning and working with languages for over 13 years. I began speaking French and German from a young age, and studied them at university along with Portuguese, which I picked up from ab initio level in my first year. During my time at university, I completed several translations and conistently achieved high grades for this work. I was also able to complete a year abroad, which allowed me to spend some time living and studying in Portugal, Germany and France, and helped me to reach a near fluent level in all three languages. I graduated from the University of Birmingham in July 2018 with a First Class Honors in BA Modern Languages (French, German and Portuguese).
I have spent the past year working as a Translation Project Manager in the UK. This job has enabled me to develop an extensive knowledge of the translation process and requirements. I used the CAT tools MemoQ and Trados Studio on a daily basis and also performed final proofreading and QA checks on translated texts. I would now like to build upon this first experience in the translation industry and be the one translating the texts myself. I have an excellent eye for detail, nice written style, and I work my hardest to ensure that translations I complete are delivered to the highest standard possible. My specialisms lie within the fields of Sport, Fashion, Food and Travel. I also have previous experience working with certificates and have a good knowledge of technical vocabulary, due to work experience that I completed in a bilingual engineering company.
