Whether Facebook itself plans on building that kind of massively multi-user online (MMO) system is unknown. Last year, Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe said the Facebook acquisition meant that Oculus “is going to be an MMO where we want to put a billion people in VR.”

In our conversation yesterday, Rubin would not be specific, and did not reveal any of Oculus’ or Facebook’s plans. But he said there are “a lot of people” working on persistent virtual worlds, which are virtual worlds where large numbers of users can be logged in at the same time, and encounter each other, either intentionally or randomly.

Facebook 自身の計画で多種大規模なオンライン使用者システム（MMO）で構築できるかどうかは不明である。昨年、Oculus 代表取締役社長のCEO Brendan Iribe氏がこうの述べている。「Facebookの買収の意味はOculusはMMO システムはVRの中で10億人にするつもりだ。」

昨日の私たちとの会話では、Rubin氏はOculus’氏と Facebookの計画についてお明確にいうつもりもないと言っていた。
しかし、彼が言うには「そこには沢山の人達」が根強いコンピューター仮想世界への取り組みがあり、それは仮想世界の大規模なユーザーがログインしているのである。同時にお互いに意図的遭遇したり、又は無作為にのどちらかである。
　

While we don’t know exactly what’s in the works, how persistent virtual worlds manifest, or which company is going to be first (or second, or third) to release them, to Rubin, the broad strokes of the future are clear.

“It’s going to be this weird mix of ‘not like what you think’ and ‘exactly what you think,'” he said. “Beyond a shadow of a doubt, a lot of people working on metaverses and persistent worlds.”

補足；
メタバース (Metaverse) とは、コンピューターによって生み出されてインターネット上に存在する仮想世界のことである。3次元コンピュータグラフィックス (3DCG) 技術によって3次元の立体空間として表現されるものが多い。

Equity and debt crowdfunding is already legal in several European countries, and the next 18 months could see it legalized in a number of new regions, including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Chile, and Mexico.

The deal flow going on in this space is quite exciting. The primary categories of fintech companies we’re seeing are:

1. Platform technology that enables larger numbers of knowledgeable angel investors to gain access to quality, vetted deal flow from trusted sources. Examples include Asset Avenue, AngelList, OfferBoard, and SeedInvest.
2. Access to asset classes that once required a seven-figure investment. Examples include InvestX, Propellr, and SlicedInvesting.
