B. Harris (bharisu)

Hello, it's nice to meet you. I am from the United States and I am 28 years old. I have held a strong interest and love for Japanese culture and language since I was younger-- this ultimately evolved into studying abroad in a Japanese university and eventually moving there to work for a time as an English assistant language teacher (ALT) at a local high school. In addition to language, I also focused on cultural exchange. Personally, I find cultural exchange to be a hallmark of a society that is growing, and in order for this to proceed smoothly language interpretation is necessary. I am fascinated with languages and have especially taken on the challenge of learning as much Japanese as I can in order to communicate with people in Japan; all in order to learn about Japanese culture and accurately share my own culture.

I lived in Kyoto during my stay in Japan, and I am familiar with Kansaiben. Aside from traditional culture, I also took note of popular culture trends as well with young people.

In my time working as an assistant I actively led classes, created lesson plans, helped graduating students with English-language interviews and applications, as well as honed my time management and communication skills. I am a fast learner and do my best to be attentive to details.

こんにちは、はじめまして。アメリカの出身で28歳です。子供のころから日本文化に興味を持っています。結局日本の大学で留学をしたり日本に引っ越し高校でALTとして働いたりするようになりました。言語に加えて文化交流を集中しました。個人的には、社会が成長する証明は文化交流だと思ってそれは上手く進めるように言語通訳が必要としています。世界の言語にうっとりされて、日本にいる人々とやり取りをするようにできるだけ日本語を学ぶことを挑戦することにしました。

日本にいたときの住むところは京都でした。そのおかげで関西弁を聞きなれて使う体験もあります。伝統文化以外に、若者に流行ってるポップカルチャーのトレンドにも注目しました。

ALTとして働いたときに活動的に授業をリードしたり、レッスンプランをつくったり、英語のインタビューと申し込みで卒業する三年生は手伝ったりしました。及び時間管理とコミュニケーションのスキルも磨きました。学習能力のいい人でがんばって仕事の詳細に細かい注意を払ってみます。
