愛する人の葬儀に参列する場面を心の中に思い描いてほしい。
あなたが葬儀場に入ると、花が飾ってあり、あなたは静寂な雰囲気に包まれる。

Before I start my speech, I would like for you to please forget about all your cares, everything that surrounds you, concentrate, open up your heart, and listen closely to my short story.

Picture yourself at the funeral of a loved one.
When you enter, you see the flowers that adorn the hall. You feel yourself embraced by the serene atmosphere.
From those gathered, you feel their grief of parting, but at the same time, you also feel the joy of having had the luck to have befriended the deceased.
You walk further into the hall to the front, and look at the photograph placed there.

すると、なんとそこには、あなた自身の顔が飾られていたのです。
これは、今日から3年後に執り行われる、あなた自身の葬儀なのだ。
集まっている人々は、あなたに対する尊敬、愛、感謝の気持ちを表しに来ているのである。

You are shocked to see your own face in the photograph.
This is your own funeral, which is to take place three years from now.
Those who are gathered have come to express their respect, love, and gratitude for you.
You find a seat and check the program to see that there are four people scheduled to read their eulogies.
First, a representative from your household and extended family. Second, a friend who knows you well. Third, a colleague, and finally, a fourth, who knows you from your charity work in the community and in volu

ここで、深く考えてほしい。
あなたは、集まってくれたそれぞれの人の中から、あなたの人生について、何と言って欲しいだろうか。
彼らの言葉をもって、あなたはどういう夫、妻、父、母、娘、息子だったと言ってほしいのだろうか。
どういう友達だったのか、どういう仕事の同僚だったと言ってほしいのだろうか。

What would you want these people to say about your life?
With their words, how would you like for them to describe you as husband, wife, father, mother, daughter, or son? Who you were as a friend, or a colleague?
What aspect of your character did you want others to acknowledge?
What accomplishments and contribution do you want to be remembered for?

What you just thought of, please take this to heart.

次に話をする、目的を持ってはじめるということに繋がっていきます。






いま、私たちは毎日の忙しさや、やることに追われて、ただ漠然と毎日が過ぎていってしまってないだろうか。
仕事を通して将来どういう風に自分がなっていたいか、またはなりたいか、という明確なビジョンが必要である。
それは、何かをするときに目的を持って始める人と、ただ何も考えずに始めてしまう人とでは、結果の出方が、まるで違うということだ。
仕事においては、特に明確な、なりたい自分、達成したい目標を持つことが重要である。

I ask you this because this is directly related to the topic of my speech today, which is to have a clear objective from the beginning in anything you may do.


We tend to let the days pass by, engulfed in our schedule and to-do lists.
However, each of us needs a clear vision of where we want our careers to take us, or what kind of person you would like to become through the course of your career.
The outcomes will be enormously different between those who start with a clear objective, and those who do not.
Especially in our careers, it is essential that each of us has a vision of who we want to be, and what goals we want to achieve.

私たちSalesは、１年間の目標で、目標売上という明確なゴールを定めている。
さらにこれを、明確な目的にするために、１年間ではなく、１週間単位で考えると、より具体的に考える事ができるはずだ。


私は、毎週土曜日に、その週の振り返りと、来週の計画を立てています。
こうして１週間ごとに整理することで、年間目標金額への目標達成や、クライアントと会った数、売上金額などを数値化して、自分の中で整理していきます。
こうして記録をつけていくと、自分の目標金額との距離が、はっきりと見えてきます。

The clear vision for us in the Sales department is set in the form of yearly target sales revenue.
To make this objective more concrete, we can think of weekly sales goals as a more tangible goal.
Every Saturday, I review my week and plan for the next.
I record and numerize how much I have accomplished in reaching the yearly target sales, the number of clients I met over the week, and the weekly revenue. This helps me to organize my plans and yearly goals.
By keeping these records, I am able to see where I am on my way to achieving the yearly target sales revenue.

目的を持たず、毎日の忙しさに追われて過ごしては、ただ忙しく働いているだけになり、たどり着く場所が自分の行きたい場所と違う場所に着いてしまう可能性があります。
忙しいかもしれないけれど、目的を持って進まなければ、自分の思う最終的な目的地に着く事はできません。

最初に話した葬儀の場面を真剣に想像し、自分自身に問いかけてみれば、自分自身の「人生の方向づけ、目的」を感じたはずである。
つまり、その「なりたい自分」を目標として、今日から１日をそこに向かって過ごすのである。

Without an objective, we could easily become overwhelmed by the everyday hassle, merely keeping ourselves busy, and we could end up somewhere we never intended on going.
Despite our full schedules, we should keep in mind that without a clear objective, we cannot reach the set goal.

Please think of the funeral scene again, and what you asked yourself. You should have been able to visualize clearly what you want to achieve in your life. This is your objective. Please keep this in mind -- Today is another step towards “who you want to be.” Spend it well.
