上司は精神科医で、職場環境や仕事に恵まれていたこともあり、診療看護師になるため大学院進学を決意。看護学学士を1年で修め、診療看護師の修士プログラムに進みました。同じプログラムには、私のように公衆衛生やビジネス、化学などを大学で学んだ学生もいました。
診療看護師になったきっかけは、研究助手時代に、所属していた教会のボランティア活動でアフリカのザンビアを訪れたことです。私は現地の人たちに手洗いを教えましたが、薬を処方することも注射を打つこともできませんでした。
With my boss who was a psychiatrist, as I was also lucky with my working environment and my work itself, I decided to enter graduate school to be a nurse practitionor. I obtained a bachelor's degree in nursing in one year, and attended the M.A. program in nursing practitionor. In the same program, there were students who had already studied public health, business and chemistry in university.
What made me determine to be a nurse practitionor came from the visit in Zambia, Africa for volunteer activities in connection with the church to which I belonged when I was a research assistant. I taught people there to wash hands, but I could manage neither prescribe drugs nor inject.
