初日の出とは、新年最初の日の出のことを指し、日本各地では初日の出専用のおすすめスポットやツアーが開催されるほど人気が高い。初日の出で、もっとも有名で人気も高いのが、富士山で見るご来光。ご来光とは、山頂から見る日の出を総称していい、特に地平線から昇ってくる日の出を指すことが多く縁起がいいものとされる。
