「いくつか購入したいのですが、在庫はありますか？」について、前半の文節で「購入の意欲」を表し、後半の文節で「具体的な在庫数がいくつあるか」を聞いているのだと思います。そうすると「いくつか」＝a couple of themよりも多い可能性も含み、「在庫はありますか」は単純に在庫のYes/Noを聞いているだけではないので、もう一歩踏み込んで文章の意図するところを掴み取る必要があると思います。
