柳川の名物の一つがこのうなぎのせいろ蒸し。
タレを絡めて味付けしたご飯の上に、蒲焼きにしたうなぎ、錦糸玉子を乗せせいろで蒸します。
うなぎの旨味が、蒸すことによりご飯に染み込こんで上手さ倍増。
ふわふわな食感もたまりません。
10数軒の店が各店秘伝の焼き方や蒸し方、味付けで腕を競っています。
食べ比べをしてみるのも一興かも。

Steamed eel
Steamed eel is one of the delicacies of Yanagawa.
Grilled eel placed on omelet slivers steamed in a bamboo steamer placed on top of rice seasoned with thick sauce.
The taste of the eel doubles with the steaming it together with the rice.
It is a very soft eating experience.
There are 10 stores with their own secret grilling and steaming techniques that are competing on the taste.
It can also be fun trying them all out.
