What is nabe cuisine (hot pot)?
The nabe cuisine is a Japanese style hot pot which is served to a table without transferring cooked foodstuffs in the hot pot to a small plate or a bowl but served as those are inside. Sometimes it is called “nabemono” or simply “nabe”. It is general that more than one person sit around the table while placing the table-top cooking stove with a hot pot on its top or a hotplate, and each of them serves the cooked foodstuffs into own bowl or plate, or own bowl with the “ponzu” (a sauce containing soy sauce and vinegar or citrus juice) or “tare” (sauce) from the nabe using own chopstick. The nabe is especially preferred during the winter season.
