海外ではエレクトロポップ（エレポップ）、シンセポップと呼ばれる。坂本龍一が「テクノポップ」という言葉を多用し日本でこの単語が定着したという説など、語源には諸説ある。

Technopop is a Japanese - English word that indicates pop music which has distinctive quality, often some phrases are repeated in a song with the use of electronic music instrument such as synthesizer and rhythm machine purposefully.

In overseas, it is called "Electropop" or "Synthpop". There are various stories about the origin of "technopop", but according to one theory that the word became familiarized after Ryuichi Sakamoto used it frequently.
