The organizers of Elton John's mini-tour in Russia likewise announced that the musician will come to the country despite the approval earlier in the year of the law limiting all propaganda of "non-traditional sexual orientation." In November, Sir Elton publicly promised to raise the issue of this law during his concerts in Moscow and the Kazan.

The musician also said that he intends to meet with Russian gays, surmising their current situation as "awful." He further promised to tread carefully in his criticism of president Vladimir Putin, but, at the same time, said that he intends to say something "quite important" from the stage.

At a concert in Moscow, Elton John revealed his sadness at discovering that the legislation he called "anti-gay" had been passed into law in Russia.
