彼は生い立ちから語り始めた。大学出ではない彼の生い立ちと幼少の頃が、彼の人生を物語る点と点とを結ぶ経緯は何度視聴しても興味深い。そして何故彼がスタンフォードに呼ばれたかも納得出来るのだ。大学の創始者は幼少の息子を亡くしている。痛く悲しんだ夫妻は息子の名前を後世に残すためにこの大学を構想６年の末設立したのである。正式名は、リーランド・スタンフォード・ジュニア大学、まぎれもなく亡き息子の名前である。彼もS.ジョブズとは違うが大学で学ぶ事が出来なかった。

He slowly began speaking how he grew up. I was intrigued to see how he connected the dots. He never went to college but was invited to Stanford. The founder of Stanford had lost his son in infancy. The parents had moaned deeply and to earn their son's place in history, after 6 years of plotting, founded the university. "Stanfor Leland Junior University" is the propper name of the institute, undoubtedly, named after their son. He, although different from S. Jobs, could not attend college.
