English

A princess, who was born out of bamboo soon grew up to be a beautiful lady and rejected all her suitors one after the other, returns to the Moon escorted by the angels on the night with a full moon. This is a scenario of The Tale of the Bamboo-Cutter. It is interesting how it is developed in the movie. A movie blurb is somehow unusual: “Crime and Punishment of the Princess”. Of all the starts, why did The Moon Princess or Princess Kaguya chose Earth? What was in her mind, and why did she have to leave for the Moon? What was the crime she committed, and how was she punished? The movie approaches the truth to those questions that were left unanswered in the original story.
