山口つとむは、広島と長崎で2回にわたって被爆した「二重被爆者」の1人である。
2006年、記録映画『二重被爆』に出演した。2009年3月に、原爆の後遺症とみられる癌にかかっていることを明かした。
2009年12月22日には、米国の映画監督ジェームズ・キャメロンが病室を訪問し、原爆をテーマにした映画の構想について話した。それを聞いた山口は「私の役目は終わった。後はあなたに託したい」と語ったという。
彼らの共通点は、大きな災難に見舞われながらも、運命に立ち向かう強靭な精神力だ。

Tsutomu Yamaguchi is one of the "double survivors" who doubly atomic bombed of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
He starred in a documentary movie titled "Twice Survived" in 2006. In March 2009, he confessed he had a cancer considered as an after effect of the atomic bombing.
On December 22nd 2009, the American movie director James Cameron visited him at a hospital and talked about the film on the theme of atomic bombing. Having heard of that, Yamaguch said," My role has ended, I would like to leave this with you."

The common ground they had was the strong spirits standing up against their fates however hard accidents they had.
