石巻市雄勝町ここも津波によって甚大な被害があった場所です。
この町にある、荒浜海水浴場には地元の方々が力を合わせて作った「雄勝希望のキャンバス」がある。40mにおよぶ白いキャンバスは、海に向かって作られており、地元の皆様の復興に向けた力強いメッセージが書かれていました。キャンバス中央には日本を代表する著名漫画家の井上雄彦氏が水平線を見る少年少女を描いている。少年少女の目線の先に何が見えてるのかな。この壁を作る際に使われた木材は津波被害にあった杉や瓦礫を組み合わせて作ったそうです

The town has a huge canvas called "Canvas of Ogatsu's hope" -- local residents worked hand in hand to produce it. The white canvas with a width of 40 m faces the ocean, filled with encouraging messages by local residents with hope for recovery. In the center of the canvas, depicted are two boys and a girl who are looking at the horizon by Takehiko Inoue, Japan's premier cartoonist. What are they seeing beyond their line of sight? It is said the materials for the wall uses combination of cedar trees or debris that suffered great damage because of the tsunami.
