Phrases like "I'll put the kettle on","Would you like some tea?"and"Let's have a nice cuppa" arecommon in real life as well as in literature and dramas.
The kettle is often put on when someone is feeling bad about making tea George Orwell wrote that 'a nice cup of tea' was "acomforting phrase".

Japanese

"やかんを火にかけましょう"　や　"お茶でもいかが"　や　 "美味しい(お茶）でも一杯飲みましょう"　等の決まり文句は文学やドラマの世界と同様に現実の世界でも普通のことである。　誰かの機嫌が悪いときにはお茶を入れるという意味でやかんがよく登場する。　George Orwell　はその事について　 '一杯の美味しい紅茶'　を　"居心地のいい言葉"　だと記している。
