When I started out, I realized immediately that 90% of the jobs required the use of a CAT tool (CAT = Computer Aided Translation). So I set out to learn about these tools - and to get me one. It is not complicated.

The basic function of a CAT tool is to save every sentence you translate in a database, so you never have to translate the same sentence twice. This speeds your work up - and makes sure your translation is consistent. It also makes sure all formatting in the source document (font, headings) are reproduced in the translation. There are many other functions and tools, but I will not waste time writing about them here.

始めた時にすぐに、仕事のうち90%がCATツール（CAT＝コンピューター支援翻訳）の使用を要求されていることに気が付きました。だからこれらのツールを手に入れて、学ぶことから初めました。難しくはありませんでした。

　CATツールの基本機能は翻訳したすべての文をデータベースに保存することで同じ文を2回翻訳せずにすみます。これで仕事が速くなり、もちろん翻訳は一貫したものになります。そして当然、すべてのソースドキュメントのフォーマット（フォントやヘッダ）が翻訳時に再現できます。他にもたくさんの機能やツールがありますが、ここでそのことについて書いて時間を浪費するつもりはありません。
