1871年には伊豆諸島は今の静岡県に属しましたが、江戸時代から交流のあった東京に属することを伊豆諸島の人々が希望したため東京府（今の東京都）所属になりました。

現在での主な理由は
・財政的に面倒を見られるのが東京都だけ。
・航路のほとんどが東京港発着のみだから。
の２点でしょうね。

In 1871, Izu Islands belongs to the area known as Shizuoka today, but during the Edo period, people of Izu Islands who had relationships with Tokyo wanted to join Tokyo-fu (currently Tokyo-to), so Tokyo annexed the islands.

The main reasons are as follows.
Only Tokyo-to can look after the islands financially
Most ships routes originate from Tokyo Port.
