映画の舞台であるベトナム戦争前後のアメリカでは、知能指数が少ないという病気は周りの人間には障害者ではなくただの馬鹿という扱いをされていた。彼は知的障害を持ちながらも彼の素直でまっすぐな性格に私はあこがれてしまった。彼は障害の影響で人とうまくかかわる事が苦手だったが、自分のスタイルを持っている。彼はただの映画の登場人物であり、更に障害者であるのに、私は彼の持ち物や、仕草や、好みのものや、生活習慣を真似したりした。
The movie is set in the US before and after the Vietnam war, and at that time lacking IQ was considered as illness, and people treated challenged people like fools. I admired his honest and upright personality despite of being mentally challenged. Due to his disability, he was not good at being involved with others, but he had his own style. Although he was just a character in the movie and despite of his disability, I copied his belongings, motions, preferences and daily habits.
