Klaes氏は動物が行動を行う際に複数の暫定的な行動計画を用意していることをサルの脳内のPFC部分のニューロン活動を計測することで示し、更にリーチタスクにおけるゴールの方向とは逆の方向へ動かそうとするPFCのニューロン群が活動していることを報告した。動物が行動を行う際には、まず暫定的な行動計画を複数用意し、それらの中から最適な1つを選択するという情報処理が行われていることが、近年の研究で明らかにされている。

Mr. Klaes showed that the theory of planned behavior applies to animals by measuring the PFC neuronal activity of a monkey who was given several tasks. Furthermore, he reported that PFC neurons moves in opposite direction to the reach task's goal. Recent studies showed that animals come up with several options to choose from every time they perform a behavior.
