It was the first time I had heard the story of someone who lived in the 20km exclusion zone around the nuclear plant. To me, it was inconceivable, but to those living on the south side, it was the type of story that would cause them to consider again whether they should evacuate. It was the story of [Kohno Machi]*, who moved his family 60km to his wife's parents house. Since April, his children had been commuting to the evacuation centre at the school, but by August his wife had grown tired of living in an evacuation shelter. The stress of not being able to accustom herself to the lifestyle and the children fighting every day had taken it's toll. At the end of August, the whole family decided to move to Minami-Soma.
