そもそも、この作品のきっかけは暗い部屋から窓ごしに風景が見える写真に
なにか特別な雰囲気を感じたからだ。
それは暗闇の部屋の中で窓の中だけが光っている事に関係しているのかもしれない。
あるいはそれに起因して、風景に黒いフレームがついているからかもしれない。
しかしおそらく部屋という暗い箱の中から外を覗き込んでいる際に、見るという行為あるいはまなざしを再認識する事が一番影響していると思っている。
それは窓を作らなければ生まれてこない感覚だった。

In the first place, what made me take this picture was the special aura I felt when looking out at scenery through the window of a dark room.
That might have to do with the fact that only the window shown bright in the room of darkness. Or, it might be that as a result of that, the window out to the scenery was given a black frame.
However, I think that it was the fact that I double checked my sight or gaze when l looked outside through that dark box called a room which likely had the most influence.
Without windows, that feeling would not have come about.

窓のある写真に特別な雰囲気を感じるのであれば、様々な場所で箱と窓を作って
写真におさめてみたら、どう見えるのだろうかという興味を持った。
その興味から私は小さい箱と窓を作り、街の風景を撮るようになった。
街に繰り出すと普段自分が意識している以上にそこらじゅうに窓がある。
私が箱と窓を作って街の風景を覗き込むとき、建物の窓から逆に私を覗き込んでいる人もいるだろう。
黒いフレームから街の風景を覗き込むとき、そこには、まなざしが交差する場があらわれるのだ。
私は覗きこみつつ、覗き込まれている。
