ALLEN talked about the histories of PUDONG and PUXI, the custom duty office of Shanghai, the inside story of the structure of Mori Building, and so on. I asked, “Why do you have so much information?” He said, “Yes, because I love Shanghai and its history.” I was taught from him then the importance of knowing the culture and history of one’s own country. When someday they come to japan, I will fully introduce Japan to them so that they will be satisfied. To do so I must learn Japan. I realized this would be the one way of acquiring international sensibility.
