As mentioned above, unlike films, there is no time limit for novels. The reason why I felt the two different themes-Andy's jail breaking and the message from Red to us- were equal may be because Andy's story is rather well depicted. In the novel, above all, Andy's trial and his circumstances are described in detail. Also, it may be because Normaden, Andy's cellmate, and his remark appeared only in the novel.

As I mentioned earlier, there is no time limit to novel unlike films. I felt like that these two completely different themes, the action of Andy's jailbreak and the message through Red, were narrated equally because Andy's story was written more in detail. The novel is written at length about how Andy was involved in the incident and how the trial went. Moreover Andy's cellmate Normaden was depicted in the novel but not in the movie, and he made this remark which wasn't in the movie.
