シニシズムとは現代社会に対して逃避的、あるいは嘲笑的な態度を取る事である。スロベニアの思想家であるスラヴォイ・ジジェクの著書「イデオロギーの崇高な対象」ではシニシズムを以下の様に表現している「本当はそれが嘘である事を知っている。しかしだからこそ、彼等はそれを信じるふりをやめられない」と。
