It is a beautiful mix of metal tones with the Rose leadpipe, nickel and brass body and different trim parts. A fine example of this great horn from one of the best eras of the Olds company, tight fitting slides, great valves look near new!,.460 bore, great player! The age issues are a few scratches here and there in the metal, not noticeable, need to look for them, some hand hold rub/use evidence in usual areas. This one is no closet queen,has been loved by someone in the past, shows very nice. Overall a really nice looking trumpet.
This instrument has not been restored by me, only cleaned and hand polished. New pads, felts, water key pads, valve springs. It is offered in this original condition.

3rd slide trigger is fast and smooth in operation, has the the thicker "bumper" that came on this model trumpet (see my other listing regarding these bumpers) on the 3rd slide trigger throw valves are wicked fast and this instrument hits ALL the notes as you go up and down, the earlier version of these recordings are a bit brighter, these trumpets have a reputation for a dark smokey sound, true enough but this one is nice and bright up high and more mellow down low. Great low end, thick fat tone.
Instrument is hand polished, no lacquer. Engraving on bell is good looking, sharp and clear, don't think a buffer has ever touched this instrument. Looks to have all original parts.

This instrument is a testament to the handmade quality of this era, compression is good, 98 % in my opinion, new valves or new valve job being 100% . Look at the valves, they show no wear, work as good as they look. This instrument is a easy to play, everything from a soft breathy note to huge room filling projection, wonderful low end and great smokey/jazzy sound.
