私は学生時代1年間オーストラリアに学部交換留学をしました。英語が話せるようになりたいのはもちろんのこと、英語で授業を学びたいという単純な動機で留学を決意しました。現地で学ぶうちに、生まれた場所や価値観まったく異なる文化を持った人と人とを繋げてくれる英語という魅力的なツール自体にどんどん引き込まれてゆきました。

世界とかかわり英語を生かして、お仕事をしたいという思いから、現在、香港のメインフラッグである航空会社で客室乗務員として働いています。世界中から集まる同僚と働き、様々な国のお客様との出会いは刺激的ですが、日本人のお客様と通訳業務をとおして機内で過ごされる時間をさらに楽しんでいただくことが仕事のやりがいです。

いままで翻訳業に挑戦したいと考えていましたが、なかなか実行に移すことができませんでした。コロナ渦で国境が閉じていて、仕事が落ち着いている今だからこそ翻訳業への道を現実のものにしたいという強い気持ちで翻訳業務を志望しております。夢現実のために努力を惜しまず、さらなる英語力の向上を目指して日々勉強をしております。翻訳実務の経験はありませんが、お仕事を任せていただけましたら全力で取り組ませていただきます。また、趣味である原書と訳書の読み比べと大学で専攻していた経営学を翻訳業務に生かせると考えております。翻訳業務を任せていただけましたら、特に文法とスタイルに気をつけて、また適切な言葉・表現の選択を確認するため、入念なリサーチを心がけます。スケジュールは柔軟に対応でき、土日祝日問わず、作業可能です。私のこれまで培ってきた英語力を最大限に生かして御社に貢献していきたいです。どうぞよろしくお願い致します。


I was born in Japan and raised and educated in Japan and Australia, now I currently live and work in Hong Kong, as a flight attendant.

As a cabin crew member, I provide excellent customer service to passengers while ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the flight. Serving refreshments and meals and selling gifts and duty-free items are all part of the job. Crews are trained to deal with security and emergency situations and can administer first aid to passengers. It's also my responsibility to ensure that all emergency equipment is in working order prior to take-off and that there are enough supplies on board. You'll help passengers board the plane and give a demonstration of safety procedures and equipment. These are the well-known duty of all flight attendants but as a Japanese speaker, interpreting and translating are also part of my job.

Although I have little hands-on experience in this translating field, I am very happy to be placed in your team, excited to work with you, and quite keen to learn from you all.　
If I was assigned this job, I will pay particular attention to grammar and style and conduct extensive research to ascertain that the appropriate words and expressions are used.
