There are many stories and legends about lost civilezations, and among the most famous must be those about the long-lost kingdom of Atlantis. The West came to know of Atlantis through the Ancient Greek writer Plato. According to the story, the civilization of Atlantis began on a large island, some 550 kilometers long by 360 kilometers wide.　A mountain rose there, sloping down evenly in all directions. On top of the mountain, in a palace, lived a family with a beautiful daughter called Cleito.

失われた文明に纏わる説話や伝説はたくさん存在します。中でも古代アトランティス王国の物語は、非常に有名な伝説のひとつです。
西洋では古代著述家プラトンによる記述によって知られています。その物語の中で、アトランティス文明は、縦550km、幅360kmの広大な島で始まったとされています。四方に土壌を拡げながら、山が隆起しました。その山の頂に建てられた城にはCleitoと呼ばれた美しい娘のいる家族が住んでいました。
