「初心忘 るべからず」という言葉があります。物事を始めたばかりのころは、何も分からずうまくいかないため、謙遜になって師匠の話を聞き精進しますが、少し慣れて くると、慢心に陥って、精進することを怠ってしまわないよう、いつまでも最初の頃の気持ちを忘れないようにしなさい、という意味です。
信仰も同じではないでしょうか。私たちは困難のとき、悲しみの時には祈り、聖書を学ぶことに真剣になりますが、物事がうまく行っているときは、いつの間にか神様なしにも生きていけるような錯覚に陥ってしまいます

Isn't with religion the same thing? When we're troubled, depressed, grieved, we're always praying, study the Bible. But when all goes as planned, we're beginning to deceive yourself that we can live without God.
