工程の終点である組立部門を出発点として、組立部門にのみ生産計画を示し、部品の運搬方法も前工程から後工程に送る方式から、後工程から必要なものを必要なときに必要なだけ前工程に引き取りに行き、前工程は引き取られた分だけ作る方式に改める。これによって管理工数も大幅に減少させることができ、直接工よりも管理工や間接工の数が多い現状を改善し、より効率的な人員の配置を行える。
