Since many classical literature of Japan, such as "The Pillow Book," "The Tale of Genji", and also "Sarashina Diary" are introduced, you can see what are the extreme popularity temples from long ago.
This road is approaching to Hase-dera Temple. It leads to the temple deep inside under the tunnel of pines.
You can finally see a historic building. Is this the main hall? No, no, you are not passing through the entrance of temple yet.
Corridor toward the main hall
What you just saw is "Noboriro (climbing corridor)".
There is a staircase of 399 steps that leads you to the main hall indeed.
When you are climbing on your feet slowly one by one step, you will feel the blessing is increasing gradually.
