You totally misunderstood the source text.
Sorry. The first sentence was not corrected right. It should be like this:
As returning this product to the US takes a lot of trouble, please refund me $40 instead.
The requester is asking for a partial refund instead of returning the product she bought, because returning it is troublesome. So the product will not leave her, and will go to her child.
If you give a single jacket to children...Are you trying to generate a fight among them over the jacket? Lol (kidding)
