With plasma derived FIX concentrates, this has been accomplished with 25 - 40 IU/kg twice weekly. Individual patient pharmacokinetic data has been evaluated as an aid in determining optimal dosing of FIX concentrates in the prophylactic treatment of hemophilia B, both from a medical and economic point of view. A clinical study which evaluated secondary prophylaxis for the treatment of arthropathy concluded that treatment did not reverse joint disease but may alter the clinical course of hemophilia. The continuous infusion administration of factor including via implantable pump systems are being evaluated in future prophylactic regimens.

関節症治療のための二次予防を調査した臨床研究は治療が関節症を好転させる効果は無いとしたが、血友病の臨床経過を変えることがあると結論付けた。埋め込み可能なポンプシステムによる治療を含む継続的な静脈注射による第IX因子濃縮製剤の投薬は、今後の予防的投薬計画として調査されてゆく。
