日本での仕事の一つで商工会に勤めていたときに外国からのお客さんをもっと呼びたいというオファーがありました。
そこは小さな温泉街で英語がしゃべれる人は少ないので、極力わかりやすいように街の各箇所、お店の中などにテロップを作りました。
小さな田舎の温泉街でしたので、外国人にとっても喜ばれ、それにより口コミで外国人のお客さんが増えたことにより街の人にも喜んでもらえました。

世界にはこのような両極面での問題は他にもあるはずです。そういった世界の問題を発見する為に英語は必須となります。

When I worked for a chamber of commerce as one of my jobs in Japan, a person volunteered himself for his desire to attract more foreign visitors.
The office of chamber of commerce was located at a small how spring district where few people could speak English, so we requested him to translate Japanese to English for making a small size notice board and placed at the stores and others.
Since it was a small hot spring district, the foreign visitors appreciated the notice board which was spread by the word-of-mouth leading to increase the number of foreign visitors.

There may be the other back-to-back issue like this in the world. To find out such issue, the ability of writing, reading and speaking the English language has been becoming a necessary requirement.
