石巻市雄勝町ここも津波によって甚大な被害があった場所です。
この町にある、荒浜海水浴場には地元の方々が力を合わせて作った「雄勝希望のキャンバス」がある。40mにおよぶ白いキャンバスは、海に向かって作られており、地元の皆様の復興に向けた力強いメッセージが書かれていました。キャンバス中央には日本を代表する著名漫画家の井上雄彦氏が水平線を見る少年少女を描いている。少年少女の目線の先に何が見えてるのかな。この壁を作る際に使われた木材は津波被害にあった杉や瓦礫を組み合わせて作ったそうです

Ishimaki district Ogachi city also received tremendous damage from the tsunami. The people of this area created the "Canvas of Hope of Ogachi", which is located at Arahama bathing beach, Ogach town. This 40 meter white canvas faces the ocean. Written on it are strong messages of hopes for restoration of the area. At the center of the canvas is a drawing of a girl and a boy watching a horizon. This is drawn by the famous Japanese cartoon artist, Takehiko Inoue. I wonder what is beyond the view of the drawn characters. The woods creating the canvas are made of debris and cedar destroyed from the tsunami.
