Three Caesarian generals joined Cassius in Syria. Trebonius had been put to death by Dolabella; but his quaestor P. Lentulus was active with a fleet for the Republic. Most of the assassins of Caesar had no doubt left Italy at an early date; and the party was further strengthened by the arrival of miscellaneous Republican, old and young.
