2月13日、東京近代美術館で「1964デザインプロジェクト」が開幕。

東京オリンピックはスポーツの祭典にとどまらず、戦後のデザイナーが総力を挙げて取り組んだ一大デザインプロジェクトでもあった。

田中一光をはじめとする当時の若手デザイナーたちが、施設案内のためのピクトグラムや、プログラムや会場案内図などの制作に組織的に取り組んだという。

On February 13th, "1964 Design Project" started at Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art.

The Tokyo Olympic Games were not only sports festivities but immense design projects in which designers dedicated their all energy after the World War ll.

Young artists such as Ikko Tanaka managed creation of pictograms for guidance of facilities, information maps of programs and venues with their team.

Situations of the project are going to be reported in the column called "For hosting the Olympic Games" in the spring special report of trade fair exhibitions.
