各家々の下水部分の端池はすべて繋がっていて、上流の家で洗ったものが当然下流の家にも流れてくる。基本的には鯉が食べてしまうのでクズは流れてこないけれども、もしも上流でなにか毒性のあるものを流してしまったら、下流の鯉は全滅してしまったりするわけで、そのようなことが起こらないような地域としての信頼関係をベースとしてこの水のシステムは成り立っている。
