Male, the capital of the Maldive Islands is a thriving city and home to about 100,000 people. This small but rather charming city has quite a number of recognized landmarks which should be on the itinerary of every visitor to the islands. Alas, most visitors are only too keen to proceed to their destination resorts and give this charming city a miss even if they happen to come to the city for a transit. Doing a Male city tour is an excellent way to acquire an understanding of the significance of each monument. The best part of this is that Male is actually quite small, its area is a little over 1.77 square kilometres
