In its mild form, the life review is reflected in increased reminiscence, mild nostalgia, mild regret; in severe form, in anxiety, guilt, despair, and depression. In the extreme, it may involve the obsessive preoccupation of the older person with his past, and may proceed to a state approximating terror and result in suicide. Thus, although I consider it to be a universal and normative process, its varied manifestations and outcomes may include psychopathological ones.The life review may be first observed in stray and seemingly insignificant thoughts about oneself and one’s life history.
人生に対する評価は、軽く考えると、思い出の再確認、過去を懐かしがる、少し後悔すること。重く考えると、不安、罪悪感、失望及び憂鬱。極端なケースでは、お年寄りが過去に対する過度な不安を招き、恐怖な状態に落ち、自殺にいたる。
そういうわけで、私はそれが世界的、かつ普通のことと考えているが、事例及び結果の多様性から精神病理学の要素も考えなければならない可能性があります。人生に対する評価はその人自身、またはその人の人生の物語の中での関係ない行動や、些細な考えから観察できる。
