強い台風4号は18日午後、那覇市の南の海上を北北東に進んだ。気象庁によると、19日夕から20日朝にかけ、四国や近畿付近に接近、上陸する可能性がある。同庁は、九州から東北の太平洋側を中心に大雨になるとして、土砂災害や暴風、交通への影響に警戒を呼び掛けた。
台風の接近で梅雨前線も北上するため、東日本大震災の被災地でも19日夜からの24時間で200～300ミリの大雨となり、地盤が沈下した地域では家屋の浸水にも注意が必要。今は大潮の時期で、高潮にも警戒が必要という。
The powerful typhoon No.4 was located on the sea south of Naha, advanced to the north-north east on the afternoon of Monday. According to the Meteorological Agency, the typhoon may approach or land near Shikoku or Kinki between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. The agency also warned the posibility of landslides, violent wind, and impacts on transportation as heavy rain is predicted to fall in the Pacific coast side, from Kyushu to Tohoku.
Influenced by the approaching typhoon, the seasonal rain front is also moving north. The areas affected by Tohoku earthquake will see a 200-300mm rainfall for 24 hours starting from Tuesday night. Anticipation of flooding is required for areas with ground subsidence. Residents should also be alert for high tide as we are currently experiencing spring tides.
