私たちは、何よりも絵本は「子どもに読ませる本ではなく、大人が読んであげる本」だと考えました。「大人がくりかえし読んであげることで、はじめて子どもたちは絵本の世界をたっぷりと楽しむことができ、心を豊かに育てることができる」と考えたからです。そのために一番ふさわしい絵本は、当代一流の著者・画家が子どもたちのために全力を注いでつくる「大人も子どももいっしょに感動できるすぐれた絵本」です。この考え方は、ずっと一貫した私たちの基本姿勢となっています。
More than anything, I thought that picture books were "books that children do not read, but books that adults read". "Through adults reading them again and again, children can enjoy the world of picture books for the first time. We can raise our hearts proudly." For that purpose, the most suitable picture book is "an excellent picture book that both adults and children can relate to together". First-rate authors and painters make full efforts to achieve this. This way of thinking has become the basis for our work.
