Vetter Streamlines the Idea Generation Process
Canvassing ideas and then getting feedback can be a pain in the ass. But the internet world isn’t short of solutions. Some might use Facebook questions while others use Twitter with hashtags, or even Google spreadsheets/forms to collect ideas. But Taiwan-based start-up, Vetter, feels that it has a better method to collect, rate, and compile good ideas.
Vetter is a web-based solution for managers to engage with their team members on problem-solving. Anyone invited to the group on Vetter can submit ideas on any problems posted by the “boss.” And any team member can also rate the quality of the ideas on a scale from one to five stars.
アイデアの構築プロセスを合理的にする「Vetter」
アイデアを宣伝してフィードバックを得るのは面倒くさいことだ。だが、インターネットの世界では解決策に不足することはない。アイデアを集めるために、フェースブックで質問をする人もいれば、ツイッターのハッシュタグを使う人もいるだろうし、もしくは、グーグルのスプレッドシートやフォームを使う人もいるだろう。だが、台湾に拠点をおくスタートアップ企業の「Vetter」は、同社には良いアイデアを収集・評価・編集するための更によい方法があると自負している。
「Vetter」は、経営者がチームのメンバーと一緒になって問題の解決に取り組むことのできるウェブベースのソリューションだ。「Vetter」のグループに招待された人は誰でも、「ボス」によって提示されたどんな問題にもアイデアを提出することができる。そしてチームのメンバーなら誰でも、アイデアの善し悪しを星印１〜５の５段階で評価することもできる。
All submitted ideas will be posted on the site without revealing who the contributors are. As much as we like openness and freedom of speech, sometimes it is more comfortable for folks to post ideas while remaining anonymous. It encourages shy members to share more ideas and also prevents premature judgement on any of the solutions posted.
提出されたすべてのアイデアは匿名で同サイトに掲示される。率直性と言論の自由は尊重するが、アイデアの投稿者にとっては匿名にしたほうが、時として投稿しやすいということもあるだろう。同サイトは内気なメンバーにもっとアイデアを共有するよう働きかけると同時に、投稿されたどんなアイデアにも早まった判断がされないようにしている。
Ideas which have an average of two stars or above will be automatically compiled in an email and sent to the “boss” on a weekly or daily basis, depending on his/her preference. The final email will also reveal the names of the contributor for easy follow-up, and perhaps also serves as a form of recognition for their contribution. Vetter also provides users with an analytics tool to help track who are the more creative or active members within the team.
平均評価が星印２つ以上ついたアイデアは自動的にEメールに編集され、「ボス」に毎週もしくは毎日送られる（メールが送られる間隔はボスが決める）。最後のメールではフォローアップがしやすいように投稿者の名前が明かされ、おそらく投稿者への賞賛ということにもなる。「Vetter」は、チームの中で誰が皆よりクリエイティブなのかとか積極的に参加しているのかを調べるのに役立つ分析ツールもユーザーに提供している。
In short, the start-up streamlines the idea generation process — the generating, rating, and compiling of ideas are all done in one single platform and with little hassle. I wouldn’t mind paying for the service if we had a bigger team here and therefore needed something like this.
Vetter was founded by Irishman Duncan Murtagh and Canadian Steven Thomas. Interestingly, Duncan also told us that the basic version of Vetter took second-place at the first-ever Taipei Start-up Weekend in August this year, which is pretty neat.
要するに、「Vetter」はアイデアの構築プロセスを合理化し、アイデアの収集・評価・編集が１つのプラットフォームで出来て、手間がかからないというもの。もし我々のチームが大きくなって、こんなサービスが必要となれば、私はこのサービスにお金を払っても構わないと思う。
「Vetter」はアイルランド人のダンカン・ムルタ氏とカナダ人のスティーブン・トーマス氏によって設立された。興味深いことに、ムルタ氏は「Vetter」のベーシックバーションは今年の８月に開催された第１回目の「台北スタートアップウィークエンド」で準優勝をしたとも語ってくれた。とても素晴らしいことだ。
