ハイトゲージは、定盤の上で工作物の高さを測定する道具。
また平行線を精密にケガク時にも使われる。
基本的な構造は、本尺目盛りのついたスケールをベース部に垂直に立て、これにバーニヤ目盛りと一体になったトースカンの針を取り付けたものでありバーニヤの目盛りの読み方はノギスと同様です。
ハイトゲージの種類として、目盛り部分がダイヤル付きとなっている物やデジタル式もある。
測定量と関数関係にある他の量の測定に頼らず、測定量の値を直接求める測定
