〝ファーストガンダム〟と呼ばれる作品。主人公アムロのライバル〝赤い彗星のシャア〟や、〝ニュータイプ〟の存在など、魅力的なキャラクターや設定が盛り込まれた。ガンダムの全てはここから始まった。
スペースコロニーへの宇宙移民が始まって半世紀あまりが過ぎた宇宙世紀0079年。地球から最も遠く（月の向こう側）に位置するコロニー群・サイド3は“ジオン公国”を名乗り、地球連邦からの独立を求め、独立戦争を挑んできた。

The first Gundam work. Known for protagonist Amuro , his rival "Red Comet" Char, Newtypes etc. It's full of attractive characters and settings. This is where Gundam began.
Half a century has passed since humans started moving to space colonies, it's year 0079 UC. The colonies furthest from Earth (on the other side of the Moon), Side 3 declare independence from the Terran Federation and call themselves the Principality of Zeon, starting a war of independence.
