太田川と言われた太古の川が、富士山の噴火によって堰き止められて湖として誕生した河口湖。ここには、数十万年の時の流れの中で日本固有の様々な生物が生息していますが、今では、ブルーギルやブラックバスなどの外来種の姿も見受けられます

An ancient liver called Ota Liver was held back its water by the eruption of Mt Fuji, and Kawaguchi Lake was made. Various kinds of unique creatures have lived in the lake for few hundred thousand years, but recently, foreign species such as bluegills and black-basses have lived there.
