山口つとむは、広島と長崎で2回にわたって被爆した「二重被爆者」の1人である。
2006年、記録映画『二重被爆』に出演した。2009年3月に、原爆の後遺症とみられる癌にかかっていることを明かした。
2009年12月22日には、米国の映画監督ジェームズ・キャメロンが病室を訪問し、原爆をテーマにした映画の構想について話した。それを聞いた山口は「私の役目は終わった。後はあなたに託したい」と語ったという。
彼らの共通点は、大きな災難に見舞われながらも、運命に立ち向かう強靭な精神力だ。
Tsutomu Yamaguchi is one of the people who was "doubly-bombed" in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
He appeared in the documentary film called "Doubly-bombed" in 2006. He revealed that he caught cancer because of the atomic bomb in March, 2009.
On 22nd of December in 2009, James Cameron who was the director of American movies visited his hospital room and talked about his thought of the movie based of the atomic bomb. When Yamaguchi heard it, he said "I will retire from my duty. I will give over to you."
Their common point is their strong will power which they stand against their destiny even if they got serious disaster.
