Silicon Valley’s Fenox Venture Capital invests in Japanese green energy company IACC
Silicon Valley-based Fenox Venture Capital has announced today that it has invested in IACC, a Japanese startup that is running a solar power marketplace based in Japan. The company has amassed USD 10M in revenue in the last fiscal year, representing a 500 percent year-on-year growth.
The marketplace, called Green-EnergyNavi, matches solar power products to consumers’ energy requirements. The website contains user reviews and cost estimates for a specific item, allowing consumers to select products that best meet their needs.

シリコンバレーに拠点をおくFenox Venture Capitalが、日本で太陽光発電プロダクトのマーケットプレイスを運営する日本のスタートアップIACCに出資したことを本日発表した。IACCは2012年の会計年度に1000万ドルの収益を上げ、前年対比で500％を成長を遂げた。
「グリーンエネルギーナビ」と呼ばれる同社のマーケットプレイスは、消費者が必要とするエネルギー量に合わせて太陽光発電プロダクトを紹介している。同ウェブサイトには、「利用者の声」や特定プロダクトの価格を調べる「見積もり」ツールなどがあり、消費者は自分達のニーズに1番相応しいプロダクトを選ぶことができる。
The website has an additional informational element, providing best practices and guides to government subsidies and tax incentives for adopting solar energy.
As of February 2013, the startup claims to have some 40,000 subscribers and 400 manufacturers and service providers online. IACC says that about 300,000 Japanese households install alternative energy sources each year. Besides consumers, the company is also supplying green services to corporations.
同サイトはさまざまな情報を提供しており、成功例や太陽光発電を設置する上で政府の助成金や税金優遇を受けるためのガイドも提供している。
2013年2月時点で、同スタートアップのオンラインサービスには約4万人の利用者と400社のメーカーおよびサービスプロバイダーがいるという。IACCによると、日本では毎年30万世帯が代替エネルギー設備を設置しているとのこと。同社は一般消費者以外にも、企業向けに環境配慮関連のサービスを提供している。
Following the investment, IACC will launch operations in North America, where public-listed green energy provider SolarCity is expanding quickly in the United States in the midst of healthy competition.
While Fenox is based in the United States, it has started looking at Asian startups. It specializes in offering investees assistance to help them expand globally through its connections in the US and Europe.
