史上最大の陸生肉食動物。最もポピュラーな恐竜の一つ。恐竜としては最大の脳（推定で約200グラム）を持っていた。また最後の恐竜でもある。より小形で、時代もやや古い仲間としてアルバートサウルス（北米産）やタルボサウルス（モンゴル産）が知られる。ティラノサウルス類（科）では、前肢は退化して指は2本しかなく、前方の歯の断面は半円形であった。

The greatest terrestrial carnivore in history. One of the most popular dinosaurs. It had the largest brain of any dinosaur (estimated around 200 grams). It was even the last of the dinosaurs. The smaller and slightly older Albertosaurus (from North America) and Tarbosaurus (from Mongolia) are known to be in its company. In the family Tyrannosauridae (Tyrannosaurids), the forelegs are degenerated and have only two digits, and the front teeth have a semicircular cross section.
