1.記事を読む限り、JCペニーの経営人やマーケット戦略をする部門が
混乱に陥っているのが分かる。なによりも、マーケット戦略が一貫して
いないのが、大きな問題であると思う。キャンペーンを発表したかと思えば、
取りやめたり、また追加したりと、これでは顧客はもとより、JCペニーで働いている
社員まで混乱に陥ってしまう。もう一度、自分たちの強みと欠点を洗い出し分析して、戦略を立て直さなければならない。顧客がJCペニーに何を求めているのかをもう一度分析し再認識することも必要だ。
1. As far as I could tell, it was clear that the managers and the department in charge of marketing were confused. Above all, the big problem is that the marketing strategy isn't coherent. They announce then suddenly abandon a campaign, and then announce again. This will confuse not only the customers, but employees who work at JCPenney as well. They will need to analyze their both their strengths and weaknesses, and rebuild their strategy. They will also need to analyze what the customers want from JCPenney, and see themselves in a fresh light.
また、もう一度、顧客のターゲットをハッキリと示しすべきだ。
2.もし解決策を提案するとしたら
まず広報に関して言えば、広報とは顧客が自社製品・サービスに対して良いイメージを持ってもらうためにする行動・姿勢だと思う。今回のJCペニーのアナウンスメントによって多くの人が困惑・混乱したことを考えれば大失敗だと思う。このような失敗の解決策は、広報と、マーケット戦略部門でともに、どう顧客・市場に情報を発表していくか慎重な戦略が必要だと思う。

2. If I am to propose a solution
First, I will focus on PR. I think that PR is an act or an attitude that the company will take so that the customers will have a positive image of their products and services. In this case, I think that it was a large failure because the announcement by JCPenny made many people confused. A solution to blunders of this kind is putting careful strategy on how they would release information to customers and the market. This needs to be done both by the PR department and the marketing strategy department.
また、価格については、他の競合企業と価格競争をするしかないのかと思ってしまう。しかし、あえて提案するなら、JCペニーは他の競合企業と比べオンラインショップがしっかりしていると思う。オンラインの価格設定などは、店舗よりも価格変更が簡単であると思う。オンラインに限って価格を思いっきり下げるのを提案する。
And about price, it makes me think that perhaps there is no choice for JCPenny other than to enter a price competition with other competing companies. But if I allow myself to make a proposal, I propose to considerably lower the price, but only in the online store. I think that JCPenny has a better online store than other competing companies, and that pricing is easier to change online than in actual retail stores.
製品についても、すでにJCペニーには多くの競合がある。そして似たような製品を多く出している。洋服などは見た目はほとんど代わらないものも沢山ある。
根気強く競合の取り扱い商品を調査し、競合では扱っていない、ニッチな分野をどんどん開拓し、競合よりも早く製品を出していくことが売り上げ向上と解決策になると思う。
As for products as well, JCPenney already faces many competition, and they sell many similar products. In items such as clothing, many of them look so similar that you cannot tell the difference of them.
Persistantly doing research on the competitions' products, breaking fresh ground and creating niche products, and selling these new products before the competing companies get around to it. I think that they will be the solution to these problems, and will result in boosted sales.
